Paddles and Prosecco Lakeside SUP Tour
sporty📍 Desenzano del Garda, Lombardy, Italy
Gliding across calm waters at golden hour offers a peaceful way to unwind, pairing gentle physical activity with a classic Italian aperitivo on the lake.
Overview
Experience the calm beauty of Lake Garda from the water as the evening sun sets over the shoreline. You will set out on a stand-up paddleboard (SUP) during the tranquil late afternoon hours when boat traffic subsides, explore scenic shorelines, and pause on a secluded cove or calm shallows to toast with chilled Prosecco and local bites.
Step-by-step Plan
- 17:30 – Arrival & Equipment Setup: Meet at the lakeside rental hub, collect your paddleboard, paddle, and safety vest, and adjust your board straps for carrying essentials.
- 18:00 – Launch & Shoreline Glide: Head onto the lake for a 45-minute paddle along the coast, taking in views of historic lakeside villas, olive groves, and surrounding peaks.
- 18:45 – The Prosecco Pause: Anchor in a quiet cove or shallow bank. Unpack unbreakable flutes and a chilled bottle of Prosecco from your dry cooler bag, enjoying a toast with taralli, olives, and fresh cheese as the sun sinks.
- 19:30 – Twilight Paddle Back: Make the gentle return paddle during twilight, following the glow of shoreline lights back to the beach.
- 20:00 – Wrap-up: Return gear, change into dry clothes, and stroll into the village promenade for dinner or gelato.

Tips & Accessibility
- Check the local afternoon wind conditions before heading out, as morning and midday breezes on Italian lakes often drop significantly towards sunset.
- Wear the supplied personal flotation device (PFD) and leash at all times.
- Beginners can easily do this entire route kneeling or seated on the board if standing feels unsteady.
- Avoid glass bottles directly against hard surfaces; wrap bottles in a towel inside a dry bag for safety.
Backup Plan
If high winds or choppy water make paddling unsafe, swap the boards for an evening aperitivo cruise on a local ferry or rent a small covered electric motorboat, followed by lakeside drinks at an open-air beach bar.
