If you are looking for intelligent, near-future speculative fiction that leans into charm rather than bleak dystopia, this is a delightfully fresh choice. Written and directed by Sophie Barthes, the film examines the encroaching commodification of human intimacy through a deeply relatable relationship 23. The dynamic between Emilia Clarke and Chiwetel Ejiofor anchors the premise with warmth and gentle humor 23: she plays a career-focused tech executive excited by the convenience of high-tech childbearing, while he is an analog-loving botanist skeptical of outsourcing life’s messy milestones 13. It delivers a playful, insightful meditation on technology, modern parenthood, and our detachment from nature 14.
