Catch a Wave at an Urban Surf Park

sporty📍 Bangkok, Thailand

It delivers an exhilarating, action-packed beach experience in the middle of landlocked Bangkok, making it the perfect active escape from the city heat.

Overview

Flow House Bangkok brings laid-back coastal vibes and continuous artificial waves straight to the heart of the capital's Sukhumvit district. Utilizing a specialized wave-simulating machine, this urban beach club provides a safe, controlled environment where you can try bodyboarding or stand-up flowboarding. Guided by certified instructors, it offers a thrilling workout and a taste of board sports without the need to travel hours to the nearest ocean beach.

Step-by-step Plan

  1. Arrive Early (30 minutes before booking): Travel to the A-Square complex on Sukhumvit Soi 26. Arriving early gives you plenty of time to register, sign the mandatory waiver, and change.
  2. Briefing and Prep (15 minutes): Meet your instructor, receive a brief safety orientation, and collect your bodyboard or flowboard.
  3. Ride the Simulated Waves (60 minutes): Jump onto the wave machine. Beginners usually start on their bellies or knees using a bodyboard to get a feel for the rushing water before progressing to standing up on a flowboard with hands-on coaching.
  4. Unwind and Recharge (45 minutes): Hit the showers, change back into dry clothes, and head to the onsite deck bar to enjoy a cold drink and a snack while watching other riders carve up the waves.

Reservations & Hours

  • Hours: Open Tuesday through Sunday from 12:00 PM to 8:00 PM. Closed on Mondays.
  • Reservations: Advance online booking is highly recommended to secure your preferred 1-hour time slot, particularly on weekend afternoons.

What to Bring

  • Secure, form-fitting swimwear (rash guards and boardshorts are highly recommended, as loose clothing can easily be displaced by the strong water current).
  • A dry change of clothes.
  • Towel and basic toiletries for the shower rooms.

Budget

  • 1-Hour FlowRider Session: Approximately 900 to 950 THB per person (includes board rental and instruction).
  • Locker Rental: Around 100 THB.
  • Refreshments: 150 to 350 THB for drinks or snacks at the onsite cafe.

Tips & Accessibility

  • Height Limits: Participants must be at least 107 cm tall to bodyboard and at least 133 cm tall to stand-up surf.
  • Physicality: Expect to wipe out frequently. While the riding surface is padded and designed to absorb impacts, the activity requires physical exertion, core strength, and balance.
  • Accessibility: This sport is not suitable for pregnant individuals or those with pre-existing back, neck, or joint conditions.

Backup Plan

If the surf slots are fully booked or you decide against riding, you can still hang out at the onsite beach bar and cafe to soak up the tropical atmosphere. Alternatively, explore the other entertainment and dining options inside the A-Square plaza, or take a short taxi ride to the nearby EmQuartier mall to wander through its indoor rainforest garden and premium food halls.
