How to make it
Preparation
- Add the mezcal, Campari, and sweet vermouth into a mixing glass filled with ice.
- Stir the mixture continuously for about 20 to 30 seconds until the liquid is thoroughly chilled and slightly diluted.
Serving
- Strain the chilled liquid into a rocks glass over a single large block of fresh ice.
- Gently pinch the orange peel over the glass to express its citrus oils over the surface, rub the peel around the rim of the glass, and drop it inside.
Garnish
An orange peel twist expressed over the surface and dropped into the glass.
Make it alcohol-free
Swap the mezcal for a smoky non-alcoholic alternative (such as Gnista Barreled Oak or a smoked tea concentrate), and replace the Campari and sweet vermouth with non-alcoholic equivalents (like Lyre's Italian Bitter Orange and Lyre's Aperitif Rosso) in equal measures.
