How to make it

Prepare the Glass

  1. Place your coupe glass in the freezer for about 5 minutes to chill before serving.

Mix the Drink

  1. Place the fresh mint leaves, lime juice, and simple syrup in the bottom of a cocktail shaker.
  2. Use a muddler to gently press the mint leaves a few times. You want to release the aromatic oils, not shred the mint into tiny pieces.
  3. Pour in the gin and fill the shaker to the top with solid ice cubes.
  4. Close the shaker and shake vigorously for 10 to 12 seconds until the shaker is ice-cold to the touch.

Pour and Finish

  1. Double-strain the liquid through a cocktail strainer and a fine-mesh tea strainer into your chilled coupe glass to catch any small mint fragments.
  2. Gently slap a fresh mint leaf between your palms to express its aromatic oils, then float it on the surface.

Garnish

A single slapped mint leaf floating on the surface.

Make it alcohol-free

Replace the London Dry gin with 60ml of a non-alcoholic botanical spirit such as Fluère Original or Seedlip Garden 108.
