Our Best Intentions
by Vibhuti Jain
Why read it
It is a compelling, emotionally layered campus-and-suburb drama that uses a shocking violent incident to dissect class, race, and parental protectiveness. Readers who appreciate intricate character dynamics and moral ambiguity in domestic settings—reminiscent of Celeste Ng's work—will find it thoroughly engrossing.
Where to get it
Available in the Netherlands through public library systems (via the Online Bibliotheek for digital formats or interlibrary loan), major ebook retailers like Kobo and Amazon.nl, audiobook platforms like Storytel and Audible, as well as physical bookstores such as Athenaeum Boekhandel, the American Book Center, Waterstones Amsterdam, and Bol.com.
What to expect
A steadily paced literary mystery told through alternating perspectives. It is accessible and easy to follow, yet emotionally complex. Content notes include discussions of youth violence, racial prejudice, class privilege, and a stabbing incident.
