Penance
de Eliza Clark
Pourquoi le lire
Framed as a sensational true-crime book compiled by an untrustworthy journalist, this sharp metafictional novel reconstructs the brutal killing of a teenager by three schoolgirls in a seaside town. It offers a piercing, darkly funny dissection of media voyeurism, internet subcultures, and the social dynamics of adolescence.
Où le trouver
Available through the Dutch public library network (online Bibliotheek and local branches such as OBA), major bookshops across the Netherlands like Athenaeum, Donner, and Waterstones Amsterdam, online at Bol.com, and in digital format across Kobo, Storytel, and Audible.
À quoi s'attendre
Satirical, grim, and propulsive. The book employs mixed-media elements—interviews, message board transcripts, podcast transcripts, and correspondence—making it moderately complex in structure. Readers should note intense depictions of bullying, teen violence, murder, and dark internet subcultures.
