The Postman Always Rings Twice
de James M. Cain
Pourquoi le lire
It is the lean, unrelenting cornerstone of hardboiled noir that helped define 20th-century crime fiction. Cain tells a gripping story of a drifter and a diner owner's wife who plunge headlong into a passionate affair and an escalating plot to commit murder. Stripped of any sentimentality or filler, it delivers tension, atmosphere, and fatalism in pure, concentrated doses.

À quoi s'attendre
Dark, gritty, and morally bleak with a blisteringly fast pace. It is very short and straightforward to follow, driven by punchy, streetwise prose. Content notes include intense domestic violence, premeditated murder, racism reflective of the 1930s setting, and sexually suggestive themes that sparked censorship upon its original release.
