Preparazione

Prepare the Oat Crumble

  1. Preheat your oven to 180°C (160°C fan).
  2. In a medium bowl, combine the rolled oats, plain flour, chopped pecans, brown sugar, a pinch of cinnamon, and fine sea salt.
  3. Pour in the 3 tablespoons of melted coconut oil (or dairy-free butter) and stir thoroughly until the mixture forms coarse, clumpy crumbs.
  4. Spread the crumble mixture evenly onto a parchment-lined baking sheet.
  5. Bake for 12 to 15 minutes, stirring once halfway through, until crisp and golden brown. Remove from the oven and let cool slightly to crisp up.

Cook the Spiced Apples

  1. While the crumble is in the oven, heat a large non-stick skillet or frying pan over medium heat with 2 tablespoons of melted coconut oil.
  2. Add the apple slices to the pan and toss to coat in the oil.
  3. Sprinkle with 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon, ground nutmeg, ground cardamom, and lemon juice. Drizzle over the maple syrup.
  4. Cook, stirring occasionally, for about 8 to 10 minutes until the apples begin to soften and turn golden around the edges.
  5. Pour in 2 tablespoons of water, reduce the heat to low, and cook for another 2 to 3 minutes until the apples are tender but still hold their shape and are coated in a glossy spiced syrup.

Assemble and Serve

  1. Divide the warm spiced apples and their pan syrup among shallow dessert bowls.
  2. Scatter the crunchy toasted oat crumble generously over the top.
  3. Serve immediately, optionally alongside dairy-free vanilla ice cream or a dollop of coconut yogurt.
