Preparation

Place a large ice cube into a rocks glass and set aside.

Mix & Stir

Add the Cognac, rye whiskey, sweet vermouth, Bénédictine, Angostura bitters, and Peychaud's bitters to a mixing glass or tumbler filled with plenty of ice.
Stir steadily for 20 to 30 seconds until thoroughly chilled and lightly diluted.

Serve

Strain the mixture over the fresh ice in your prepared rocks glass.
Express the oils from the lemon peel over the surface of the drink, then drop it into the glass along with the cherry.

Garnering

Expressed lemon twist and a brandied cocktail cherry
