Appointment with Death
van Agatha Christie
Waarom lezen
This standout Hercule Poirot mystery leans heavily into dark psychological tension and family drama before pivoting into a tight, ticking-clock investigation. Set against the atmospheric, sun-drenched ruins of Petra, the story focuses on a monstrous matriarch whose tyrannical hold over her family makes virtually everyone a prime suspect. It offers Christie's classic misdirection alongside genuine psychological insight.

Wat je kunt verwachten
An atmospheric, psychologically driven Golden Age whodunit with an ominous first half that builds into a crisp, interview-heavy police procedural. It is an easy, breezy read in terms of complexity, but features heavy themes of psychological abuse, familial manipulation, and emotional cruelty, along with the central poisoning death.
