Preparação
1. Prep and Preheat
- Preheat your oven to 190°C (170°C fan).
- Lightly grease a medium baking dish (about 20x25 cm) with a smear of butter.
2. Prepare the Fruit Layer
- In a large mixing bowl, toss the sliced apples, frozen mixed berries, 2 tablespoons of granulated sugar, 1/2 teaspoon of the ground cinnamon, and 1 tablespoon of cornstarch or flour until evenly coated.
- Transfer the fruit mixture into the prepared baking dish and spread it into an even layer.
3. Mix the Crumble Topping
- In the same bowl, combine the flour, rolled oats, brown sugar, remaining 1/2 teaspoon of cinnamon, and a pinch of salt.
- Add the cold, cubed butter.
- Using your fingertips, rub the butter into the dry ingredients until the mixture resembles coarse breadcrumbs with some pea-sized clusters forming.
4. Assemble and Bake
- Scatter the crumble mixture evenly over the fruit layer, making sure not to pack it down so it stays crisp.
- Bake in the oven for 35 to 40 minutes, until the topping is rich golden-brown and the fruit juices are bubbling up around the edges.
- Remove from the oven and let it sit for 5 to 10 minutes to settle before serving warm with vanilla custard, cream, or vanilla ice cream.
